Care guide

How to take care of your Wool2fit shoes.

Wool mostly takes care of itself. The lanolin keeps it clean. The felting keeps it together. Most of what you'll do is air them out between wears and let the shoes do their thing.

When something does happen, a spill, a wet day, a tight instep, here's what to do.

Same materials, same rules across all three models. What works for one works for all of them.

How wool takes care of itself

Why wool stays clean

Wool naturally contains lanolin, which is mildly antimicrobial. It's why wool shoes don't smell the way leather or synthetic shoes do. The wool also absorbs about a third of its own weight in moisture before feeling wet, much more than synthetic shoes. You can wear them barefoot, day after day, and they won't develop the kind of buildup you get in other shoes.

The everyday rhythm

Wear them. Air them out. Repeat. For most people that means a day on, a few hours off, long enough for moisture to evaporate. If your feet sweat a lot, give them longer to air. For everyday dust and dirt, brush with a soft brush or knock them together outside. A clothing lint roller handles pet hair.

Socks or barefoot, both work. The shoes are designed to be worn barefoot, but if socks feel right, wear socks. The choice is yours.

Where to wear them

The natural rubber sole grips on tile, wood, stone, wet pavement, and cobblestone. They handle the daily mix: indoor floors, the coffee run, the school drop-off, the dog walk, the dinner out. They are not running shoes. They are not winter mountain boots. For the way most people actually live, they handle it.

When something happens

They got wet

Stuff them with crumpled paper. Newspaper works fine. Air dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sunlight. Drying takes 24 to 48 hours.

Never tumble dry.

Something spilled or stained

Dab with a clean cloth and lukewarm water. Don't rub, rubbing pushes the stain into the felt. If water alone isn't enough, use wool soap or a regular shampoo, tested on a small spot first. If that still isn't enough, machine wash on a wool programme.

They feel tight on the instep

You can carefully cut a 1 to 2 cm slit in the felt at the instep with scissors. Because the wool is felted (not woven), the cut won't unravel. Start small, try them on, and only increase the cut a millimeter at a time if needed.

On your own risk. We can't replace or refund a cut shoe.

Machine washing

Yes, you can machine wash them.

Use the wool programme, cold or low temperature, low spin, gentle cycle. Wool soap or a regular shampoo, not detergent. After washing, stuff with crumpled paper to hold their shape and air dry at room temperature. Never tumble dry.

Most of the time spot cleaning is enough, but a wool-programme wash is fine when you need it, for example after a grease or oil stain.

Things to avoid

Direct heat (radiators, hair dryers, blow heaters) is best avoided long-term, but a single time near a warm radiator won't ruin a pair.

Other questions

Almost never. When the width is right, the shoe fits from the moment you slip it on, that's the whole point of the 3-Width Fit System. The mold matches your width from the start, so the wool doesn't need to stretch to accommodate your foot.

The wool itself is naturally flexible, which means if your feet sit outside the normal range, the shoes can shape slightly without anything tearing or wearing out. But in almost every case, you won't need that. The fit is already there.
Surprisingly hard-wearing. They last longer than most people expect. The felt softens with wear, the fit improves, and the natural rubber sole holds up to daily indoor and outdoor use. If something breaks, tears, or wears through within two years because of a manufacturing defect, the 2-Year Quality Warranty covers it.
Yes. The shoes don't have a fixed glued-in insole, so there's room. We can't speak to fit because every insole is different, but if you want to try, order your usual size and width and test inside. If the combination doesn't work, you have 100 days to send them back.
Yes. Squeeze them into a corner. Wool felt is flexible. They regain shape once you take them out and put them on.
No. Wool regulates temperature in both directions. It insulates when cold and breathes when warm. The same pair works in January and July.

When something goes wrong

If the fit isn't right, send them back. You have 100 days, and we cover the return shipping. If something breaks, tears, or wears through within two years because of a manufacturing defect, we replace the pair. For anything else, write me.
